found out where the “Mad Goblin” worked !!
Re: auctioned trousers belonging to Marc Bolan
They are ivory coloured satin with an oriental style embroidered stripe down the outside of each leg. They are flared and have a turn up and are labelled “Alkasura Clothing Ltd, 304 Kings Rd, London SW3″ - One of Marc’s favourite clothes shops. They were recently valued by Bonhams at £1500 - £1800.

What a great cutting.
The Mad Goblin will be John Lloyd who I wrote about in my book The Look. His partner in Alkasura Wholesale - before Alkasura the shop opened at 305 Kings Road in 1970 - was Paul Reeves, the revered antiques collector who has an exhibition and auction starting at Sotheby’s this weekend (see my blog).
Lloyd was a tragic soul obsessed with religion; he was a firm friend of Marc Bolan’s and supplied many of his clothes, as he did to people like Todd Rundgren.
In my book Malcolm McLaren recalls him stalking the King’s Road in a monk’s habit and cowl. Sadly Lloyd’s demons got the better of him and he committed suicide by setting fire to himself in the mid-70s.
Where did this cutting appear and when? I’m guessing 1972.
