y’know, i was gonna write a whole story about this, b/c i got a phone call about this a few hours ago from daddy lethal, who wondered to me, “‘was ‘if i were a carpenter’ playing in the store?” but the police blotter says it better than i can! needless to say, the bradys and the lethals are quite close, and we grew up together. kids do the darndest things!
Police: Man tried to rob store with hammer, saw

LOWELL — Police say a man used a hammer and saw and tried to rob the Store24 on Chelmsford Street last night. John Brady, 40, of 23 Avenue B, Apt. 10, held the tools in a threatening manner, police said.
The convenience store’s clerk and a customer managed to fend off Brady, who then jumped in a green Ford Explorer and took off, police said.
Police quickly responded to the call about 11:15 p.m. Officers Philip Conroy and David Lally chased Brady in a patrol car.
Brady ended up smashing his car into a snowbank on Inland Street, which ended the chase, police said.
According to police, Brady did not get away with anything from the convenience store.
